Skewed View of Parenting from Yes Vote Campaign

The Yes Vote campaign has some advice for parents on their little blog...

Parenting tip: Nip anger in the bud... take steps to control your own rage.

rage: noun. Violent, explosive anger; A fit of anger.

Heck, how many parents do you know who rage with anger against their children? Whether they act on that rage is beside the point: what would cause parents to be filled with rage against their children in the first place? Surely a word such as frustration, dissapointment or annoyance would be more fitting?

Frustration, disappointment and annoyance are not emotions that would lead me to want to smack a child.

Rage, however, I have experienced and understand.

It is not "good parental correction" to hit a child when angry.

I suggest it is at the very least "unnecessary" parental correction to smack (your word) a child if feeling no more than "frustration, disappointment or annoyance".

Where's the adult self-control here?

One thing that I have noticed is that the YES lobby who wants to make a smack a criminal offense will not allow any comment on their propaganda.

Correct me if I'm wrong, Chuck, but you did just comment. Good on ya.

Anonymous, I was referring to allowing comments on their website. I am sure they would like to ban blogs and websites that are counter to their.
